 Rick's Writings

In case you're wondering; I'm still here!

It's been about eight weeks since the last newsletter, but it's been a busy time for me. I've been getting more involved at the Twin City Model Railroad Museum and working on my business (pesky clients wanting me to work on their websites keeping me from playing with trains!)

I'm going to be moving in March; not far, just to another apartment in the complex where I live. But it's still disruptive.

And a big welcome to all of the new subscribers over the past few weeks.

Rick

 What's New?

Q & A
I've added a Questions & Answers section to the Nav Bar:

Nav Bar

There are a lot of questions and answers posted by other model railroaders. There are still a few unanswered questions, so if you have the answer let me know and I'll get it posted.

The email address to use for submitting questions or answers (or tips) is Info@Model-Train-Tips.com. I plan to add a comment form to this page and others soon which should make it easier for you to send me comments.

Links
I've added a few more websites to the Links page. If you want to suggest any other helpful websites, please let me know.

Videos
I've begun to add videos to the site. There is one video currently embedded in the sidebar that I have been changing periodically.

Here are some articles that have been posted since the last newsletter:

Why Build A Branch Line Model Train Layout?
A short article about branch lines on model train layouts by Robert Anderson. [read more]

A Good Quality Locomotive Will Make All The Difference
A short article about things to think about when considering a purchase of a new model train locomotive by Bruce Morgan. There's certainly things here that I wouldn't have thought of. [read more]

Night Trains Event at the Twin City Model Railroad Museum
I posted some videos of the Night Trains event at the museum. I think night trains is awesome! [read more]

Chuck Schutz made some updates and enhancements to his C & G RR layout. They are incredible! He sent me some new pictures and I've added a few to the bottom of page that shows his layout. His skill and attention to detail are impressive.

I've got even more pictures to add with additional enhancements Chuck made after sending the first batch of pictures. I'll add them soon, too.

Sharing is Caring!
At the bottom of each blog article is a tool that allows you to share articles you like with others:

Sharing Is Caring!

If you hover your pointer over this tool, it will expand to show several icons. Each icon represents a social networking site or blogging related site. Example: the first icon is for Facebook; click on the Facebook icon and you can share the article on Facebook (assuming you use Facebook) with your friends.

There are icons for Twitter, MySpace, and many others. Feel free to play around with this, but let me know if you encounter any problems.

 Train Tips

Bob and Nick Lloyd submitted a great tip for weathering a corrugated metal roof. Check it out on the Weathering Techniques page.
